Products Pepperl+Fuchs upgrade

In 2020, Microsoft will stop providing support and security updates for the Windows 7 operating system. To avoid security gaps, companies that still use Windows 7 are currently faced with updating or renewing their IT infrastructure.

Upgrading to newer Windows systems often includes changing hardware and firmware, too. This means users of VisuNet RM Shell 4 must upgrade to the latest version of Pepperl+Fuchs firmware.

The innovative VisuNet RM Shell 5 is based on the Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSB operating system and already meets future demands.

RM Shell 5 provides several integrated security mechanisms that reduce the risk of external influences — a firewall and a USB lockdown protect the system against malware and viruses.

Users are also able to customize the firmware and determine different, password-protected user roles.

Pepperl+Fuchs provides a download link for upgrading from VisuNet RM Shell 4 to RM Shell 5. Users who buy the RM Shell 5 upgrade kit will automatically get a user account where they will find everything they need for the upgrade, the company says.
